The season is really done……

Subject came up again on a list I am on. Gardening! This weekend I finished cleaning up the bulk of the garden space for the winter. We still have our garlic patch, chard, collards and even a bit of celery poking through after the first solid frost of the season. The canning is nearly done but we still have a crate of apples and a crate of pears to get processed. The winter squash is hardened and we are getting it indoors before the “real” freeze hits. Larders are full, freezers are over full and the seed catalogs are starting to come in the mail. (great reading material in the throne room). We opened up about 30% more space for next season and I can not wait to start this coming spring. The garden is the high light of our year, but the fat winter sure is nice.
