Yes the US has big problems right now, we had big problems during the civil war, we had two big problems called WWI and II, most of us who are over 40 knew the Viet Nam problems and the civil unrest of the time. We lived through all of those problems, we grew and learned from them. We have some new problems out there. We can blame this fellow or that one but bottom line comes back to personal responsibility. These problems will be dealt with, we will see changes-some good some bad.
I see problems but I also see people seeking solutions. I see families working tighter than ever with each other (hope that expands), I see communities working with each other to help others (flood watch out our way a couple of my boys spent the night on a riverbank in order to help out a neighbor), I see individuals just doing good stuff for the sake of it (watched a fellow pay for an elderly ladies groceries the other day, just because), I see a lot of good coming out of the “bad” times but then,,,,, I look for it. I see Americans wising up and paying down debt-not using plastic (to bad our government, either side, can not figure that one out). I see more folks growing their own gardens (my pet peeve), I see folks making do with less and helping others more.
At the grass roots I see folks paying more attention to who and what is going on at a local level with government, city, county, and school boards. This is where we find leadership, this is where the next crop of great Americans will be found. So we can sit and scowl or we can whine or we can pick up our walkers, canes, wheelchairs and shake the dust off our asses and do something to make it a little bit better…….. Do ya think?
